We’re looking for a technical accounting leader with deep ASC 606 and ASC 330 expertise who can build scalable processes in a fast-paced automotive or EV environment. The ideal candidate has experience with vehicle revenue recognition, inventory accounting, order-to-cash processes, and operational accounting impacts, while partnering cross-functionally across finance, sales, operations, and legal. This person is hands-on, proactive, highly analytical, and comfortable creating controls, solving complex accounting issues, and mentoring teams in a high-growth environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA required; active license preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in public accounting
  • Deep expertise in ASC 330 and ASC 606, including principal/agent and variable consideration; ability to research, document, and defend technical positions
  • Advanced Excel required
  • Anticipates downstream accounting implications of operational decisions before they become problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff
  • Comfortable building scalable processes from scratch

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive, EV, or vehicle remarketing industry experience strongly preferred
  • NetSuite or similar ERP experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Apply ASC 606 analysis to vehicle and vehicle-related sales, including identification of performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and principal vs. agent assessment
  • Record and reconcile customer deposits arising from vehicle orders placed prior to delivery
  • Develop, design, and partner with the business to execute the vehicle order-to-cash (O2C) process end-to-end
  • Design and implement internal controls and accounting policies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of vehicle and vehicle-related revenue recognition
  • Analyze finished goods vehicle inventory for lower-of-cost-or-net realizable value (LCNRV) in accordance with ASC 330-10
  • Review and oversee non-manufacturing COGS accounting, including logistics, fulfillment, and transaction-related costs
  • Record and reconcile vehicle sales returns and allowances
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Operations, Legal, and FP&A, to ensure alignment of vehicle revenue recognition policies and practices
  • Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
