About The Position

McKesson is seeking an Accounting Manager for their Trade Vendor COGS & AP team within the shared services Accounting, Reporting, and Compliance (ARC) operations. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations and is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, including period-end close activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis. The manager will partner with Business Units and stakeholders across North America and Canada, provide oversight and support to a Virtual Team, and ensure SOX compliance. A key aspect of the role involves leveraging technology, analytics, automation, and AI to modernize processes and improve reporting. While the primary focus is Trade Vendors COGS & AP, the role may also support broader accounting, reporting, control, or transformation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP or other large ERPs
  • Strong communication skills including ability to present to senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop strong partnerships with all facets of the organization
  • Excellent team building skills, strategic problem-solving skills, strong project and resource management, analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and internal control environments
  • Experience documenting accounting processes and understanding how those processes impact the business
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a highly ambiguous, evolving environment, including during large-scale transformations, process redesign, or changes in ownership models

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Experience working with a third-party service provider preferred
  • Experience in a large company with complex, multi-system environments preferred
  • Experience leveraging analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve accounting processes preferred
  • Experience with BlackLine, Power BI, ServiceNow, or similar tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review period-end close accounting activities and ensure deadlines are met
  • Review journal entries prepared by the Virtual Team and supporting documentation
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and reports prepared by the Virtual Team
  • Oversee preparation and review of period-end reporting deliverables
  • Coordinate tasks performed by the Virtual Team to ensure quality service delivery and mitigate risks
  • Provide feedback and support escalations raised by the Virtual Team
  • Provide monthly flux analysis explanations for specific general ledger accounts and lead related discussions with senior management while tailoring communications to the appropriate audience in a clear, concise format
  • Generate reports from multiple systems and perform in-depth analysis, as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive process improvements
  • Provide accounting support to various stakeholders and multiple functions across multiple Business Units
  • Support broader McKesson initiatives as business needs evolve
  • Review and update applicable Statement of Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and policies
  • Analyze complex accounting and operational issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that improve accuracy, control effectiveness, and process sustainability
  • Ensure compliance with applicable SOX requirements, internal controls, and company policies
