About The Position

ESO is on a mission to improve community health and safety outcomes through the power of data. As Accounting Manager, Expense General Ledger, you will own the full expense side of ESO's books — from vendor payments and corporate card programs to complex technical accounting areas including capitalized software development costs and lease accounting under ASC 842. You will lead a globally dispersed team of three and serve as the primary expense business partner to FP&A, Tax, International Accounting, and Revenue Accounting/Collections. This role is built for someone who combines technical precision with a continuous improvement mindset. You will champion AI and automation initiatives across the expense general ledger, drive efficient and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, and expense workstream integrations for M&A transactions. If you see accounting as a strategic function — not just a compliance exercise — this role is for you.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including experience with ASC 350-40 (capitalized software) and ASC 842 (leases).
  • Hands-on experience with a cloud-based ERP (NetSuite strongly preferred).
  • Experience with AP/procurement/T&E platforms; Ramp experience is a strong plus.
  • Proven track record leading, developing, and retaining accounting team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve close processes in a high-growth environment.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation — a desire to lead, not just follow, in an AI-first environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional partnership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adaptive Planning or a comparable FP&A tool.
  • Experience working in a SaaS or technology company.
  • Familiarity with international accounting considerations in a multi-entity environment.

  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos and related journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Lead and develop a globally dispersed team of three: 1 AP Specialist and 2 Staff Accountants.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Champion AI and automation initiatives across the expense general ledger team, leveraging tools including Claude and Ramp's automation capabilities.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and build scalable, technology-forward solutions.
  • Model an AI-first mindset and help team members integrate AI tools into their day-to-day work.
  • Serve as the primary accounting partner to the Finance Business Partner (FP&A) organization for expense-related reporting, variance analysis, and planning support.
  • Collaborate regularly with Tax, International Accounting, and Revenue Accounting/Collections teams.
  • Translate complex accounting outcomes into clear, actionable insights for non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Lead expense workstream integrations for acquired entities, ensuring timely and seamless transitions.
  • Serve as a key accounting contact for internal and external stakeholders throughout M&A transitions.
