About The Position

Propulsion Controls Engineering has a job opening for an Accounting Lead. We are looking for a candidate that will demonstrate a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, such as AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial record keeping. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter, and be open to working independently and in a team setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. The candidate must have good problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and support & contribute to team goals. Previous Quickbooks, CostPoint and ADP experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (AP/AR, reconciliations, financial record keeping).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter and open to working independently and in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Support & contribute to team goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles – GAAP), and the analysis and reporting of financial data, preferably in job costing environment.
  • Ability to perform complex problem solving, analyze information and develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interact with various job classifications.
  • Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • May perform accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.
