Position Overview: The Accounting Intern for CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC will participate in a structured, rotational internship program within the Finance organization, aligned under a Controllership model. The Accounting Intern will contribute to real accounting and finance projects while gaining exposure to the end-to-end financial lifecycle of a mortgage business – from loan origination through financial reporting and analysis. The Accounting Intern obtains hands-on experience in their field while contributing to company success.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or closely related field.
  • Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail for the process of documenting financial information and willingness to learn in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through multiple teams within the Finance Organization, including corporate accounting, mortgage accounting, financial reporting, and Corporate FP&A.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Support accounting processes related to mortgage origination, funding, and sale.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize operating data, highlighting trends and patterns.
  • Perform general ledger and account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Assist with billing and collections, including filing invoices, generating checks, and annotating reports.
  • Support financial reporting, audit requests, and documentation as needed.
