About The Position

The Bonadio Group is offering Accounting Internship opportunities for Spring and Summer 2027 in Upstate New York. These internships are designed to provide hands-on experience in public accounting, allowing interns to perform meaningful accounting work, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain exposure to client engagements. The program aims to develop technical skills, build professional confidence, and contribute to real client work. Interns will work alongside Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, Managers, Principals, and Partners. Available internship types include Tax, Small Business Advisory (SBA), and Assurance. The internships are located in Albany, Buffalo, East Aurora (Spring Only), Rochester, and Syracuse, and are in-person. Interviews will be scheduled for September 2026 for candidates advancing to the next round.

Requirements

  • Active enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s in accounting program
  • Coursework that supports progress toward the requirements for CPA eligibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Passion for client service and continuous learning

Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, small business, and corporate tax returns
  • Assist with tax research and planning projects
  • Analyze financial information and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with experienced tax professionals on client engagements
  • Learn how public accounting professionals deliver exceptional client service
  • Assist with bookkeeping and accounting functions
  • Support financial statement compilations
  • Prepare and review client financial information
  • Learn small business tax preparation processes
  • Work directly with accounting professionals serving a diverse client base
  • Develop an understanding of advisory services and client relationships
  • Gain exposure to audit and assurance profession through hands-on projects and meaningful client work
  • Opportunities may include work within The Efficiency Center, Form 990 preparation and review support, Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) engagements, Technical Accounting Standards Update (ASU) projects, and Innovation initiatives.
  • Participate in year-end audit engagements alongside experienced Assurance professionals.
