About The Position
The New York Islanders Hockey Club is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Accounting Intern to join their team from September to December 2025. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience supporting various accounting and finance functions, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, and preparation for monthly and annual financial reporting. The intern may support multiple entities such as the New York Islanders, Islanders Iceworks, Islanders Children’s Foundation, and the Northwell Health Ice Center. No prior accounting experience is required, but proficiency with basic computer programs and a readiness to learn in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college program studying Accounting and/or Finance.
- Awareness of and interest in the latest accounting guidance, pronouncements and emerging trends shaping professional sports
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Proficient with basic computer programs
- Ready to learn in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
- Analyze financial data with attention to detail
- Research budget and forecasting data
- Verify the accuracy of journal entries and financial documentation
- Provide administrative support, including data entry and document filing
- Handle sensitive financial information with discretion
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn
