About The Position

The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Summer 2027 Internship Program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that supports both professional development and business impact. Successful interns will work on challenging projects aligned with their academic background, receive ongoing mentorship from experienced professionals, and gain exposure to core accounting functions within a global organization. Throughout the internship, you will support financial processes that help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of business reporting while developing valuable technical and professional skills. This is a hybrid internship opportunity based in the Chicagoland area. Interns are expected to work both on-site and remotely throughout the program. Candidates must be able to work on-site as required for the duration of the internship. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided, and fully remote work is not available. The internship duration is approximately 12 weeks, Summer 2027.

Requirements

  • Must reside in the Chicagoland area.
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.
  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong academic standing preferred, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
  • Experience working with financial data, accounting coursework, or related academic projects is a plus.
  • Demonstrated initiative, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to business-critical projects that support the Accounting organization and broader business objectives.
  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities and responsibilities while gaining exposure to key financial processes.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close activities, and quarter-end financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare journal entries and support cash reconciliation activities.
  • Process and input financial data into appropriate accounts while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Research financial discrepancies, investigate variances, and assist with account corrections when needed.
  • Coordinate and organize supporting documentation for general ledger transactions.
  • Assist with financial analysis and reporting projects that support business decision-making.
  • Attend and actively participate in accounting team meetings and cross-functional discussions.
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on a 12-week cross-functional case study project and present recommendations to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.
