About The Position

H&R Block’s Embark 2027 Summer Internship Program is an 11-week paid internship for students studying Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar discipline. The internship runs from May 17, 2027, through July 30, 2027, and is based at the company’s corporate headquarters in downtown Kansas City’s Power & Light District. Interns receive guidance and mentoring from a leader while also being encouraged to work independently.

Interns will take part in workshops and events organized around four program pillars: Professional Development, Giveback, Networking, and Connected Culture. Activities include developing workplace skills, participating in community service, meeting company leaders and mentors, and taking part in team-building or recreational events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently seeking a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar discipline, with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Ability to work both as part of a diverse team and independently.
• Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and work with new computer-based programs and databases.
• Ability to contribute effectively in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• No previous work experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze financial data for accounting projects and reporting.
• Assist with forecasting, financial reporting, and processes.
• Research technical accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Support preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Assist with timely preparation and review of financial reports.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams on special projects.
• Participate in Embark program workshops and events focused on professional development, community service, networking, and connected culture.
