About The Position

The Accounting Director will leverage in-depth expertise in complex accounting rules, standards, and reporting, applying this knowledge to specific financial situations and transactions. This role involves researching complex accounting issues, preparing technical accounting position papers, and defending accounting conclusions. The Director will utilize accounting software, data query languages (SQL), and financial reporting tools for data analysis and efficient reporting. Key responsibilities include providing expertise on the financial implications of various transactions, structuring strategies that align with accounting requirements, analyzing and interpreting financial data to provide insights and recommendations for improving the Bank's financial performance, and developing and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. The role also entails enforcing Company and Departmental policies and procedures, managing FLASH reporting, reviewing Quarterly Call Reports, and participating in the configuration, testing, and implementation of new software for new Accounting Standards. The Accounting Director will partner with the Accounting Information Systems Manager to oversee departmental processes and recommend improvements, support the Accounting Deputy Controller in managerial reporting, and collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Additionally, the role involves assisting in annual external and internal audits, researching outstanding items, overseeing and preparing monthly, quarterly, and managerial financial reports, managing Accounting and General Ledger responsibilities, and participating in relevant webinars. The position requires regular and predictable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to travel as needed. Management responsibilities include managing and providing guidance, leadership, and coaching to Accounting staff, directing daily workflow, leading process improvement initiatives, and evaluating staff performance for personnel actions.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Master's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum of four years' accounting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures on manual and automated systems
  • Working knowledge of the concepts of report writing in Accounting and/or Financial applications
  • Must be detail oriented, analytical, and organized
  • Effective written and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Review of Quarterly Call Reports
  • Participate in configuring, testing, and implementing new software to comply with new Accounting Standards
  • Partner with Accounting Information Systems Manager to oversee departmental processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support the Accounting Deputy Controller in all managerial reporting
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information and align accounting goals with overall Bank strategy
  • Assist in annual external audits and internal audits (example: OCC, Federal Reserve, and FDIC)
  • Research outstanding items at all company levels
  • Oversee/ Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Oversee/ Prepare managerial reports as needed
  • Manage Accounting and General Ledger responsibilities
  • Participate in webinars related to Banking, Accounting, and overall Regulatory reporting
