Overview At Amstan a division of Lixil Americas we understand manufacturing and how to move it. As the logistics arm of Lixil Corporation, a global family of brands including American Standard, GROHE, INAX, Basco, Tostem, and more, we organize and manage our lanes and utilize the capacity of our key shipper-to-shipper relationships. In fact, in addition to managing all modes of Lixil’s North American outbound and inbound logistics, we also manage the logistics of a wide range of external partners, mainly in the manufacturing industry.

Requirements

  • Understand GL, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Access and Word)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel – ability to create and maintain excel files with formulas and pivot tables: VLookup Preferred
  • Ability to lead and direct people.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent and at least 5 years of related experience

  • LTL experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Record financial transactions related to transportation and freight brokerage operations, such as fuel purchases, vehicle maintenance costs, driver salaries, sales commissions, carrier costs and toll expenses.
  • Reconcile bank statements with ledger entries to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Adjust journal entries for accruals and prepayments related to transportation services.
  • Analyze transportation cost trends and report any discrepancies or unusual activities.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare various accounting statements and financial reports, providing critical data for management decision-making.
  • Record financial transactions related to transportation operations, such as fuel purchases, vehicle maintenance costs, driver salaries, and toll expenses.
  • Reconcile bank statements with ledger entries to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Adjust journal entries for accruals and prepayments related to transportation services.
  • Analyze transportation cost trends and report any discrepancies or unusual activities.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Functions: Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Process invoices from transportation vendors and service providers, ensuring timely payments.
  • Manage billing and collection for freight, charter, or passenger services provided by the transportation business.
  • Reconcile client accounts and resolve any discrepancies in payments or billing.
  • Monitor aging reports to ensure receivables are collected promptly and payables are managed effectively.
  • Budget Assistance: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets, helping to ensure financial discipline and cost management.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget for transportation operations, including projections for fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, and staffing.
  • Monitor expenditure against the budget, identifying variances and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Participate in budget review meetings, providing financial insights specific to transportation costs and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to forecast future financial needs for fleet expansion, upgrades, or other transportation initiatives.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure adherence to financial laws and regulations, and stay updated on best practices within the accounting field.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation industry regulations in financial reporting, including those related to freight billing, driver wages, and environmental impact.
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws, fuel surcharge rates, and other financial regulations affecting transportation businesses.
  • Implement and uphold best practices in accounting specific to the transportation industry, such as cost allocation methods, asset tracking, and revenue recognition for multi-leg trips.
  • Conduct internal audits or coordinate with external auditors to ensure financial processes align with industry standards and legal requirements.
