About The Position

The Accounting Clerk provides clerical and administrative support to the Finance Department by performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks. Position handles accounts payable and assists with payroll processing. The statements below describe the general nature and level of work the individual(s) assigned to this position perform. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in general local government accounting preferred
  • Experience with Tyler Incode preferred
  • Experience in processing payroll preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes accounts payable transactions.
  • Performs data entry of invoices, receipts, journal entries, and other accounting documents.
  • Maintains organized filing systems for financial documents and records.
  • Assists with payroll processing after time and attendance are processed.
  • Maintains vendor file in Incode.
  • May provide clerical support, including copying, scanning, and preparing reports.
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial data and adheres to established policies and procedures
