About The Position

Under general supervision, an Accounting Clerk II performs financial clerical, bookkeeping, and statistical reporting tasks, as well as processes financial records/transactions of moderate complexity. This role applies arithmetic skills and understanding of record-keeping systems and related transactions. This is the journey level in the Accounting series, characterized by the responsibility to perform bookkeeping and statistical record-keeping tasks. Positions in this class deal with relationships involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and regularly make decisions that may affect the quality, accuracy, or utility of results. Work is generally standardized but requires the application of various established rules and procedures. This recruitment is specifically to fill an Extra-Help position. Extra-help employees do not have rights to a regular position or continued employment and are excluded from civil service. The hours worked may be part-time or full-time, but cannot exceed 999 hours in a fiscal year. CalPERS retirees must meet CalPERS post-retirement employment requirements and may not work more than 960 hours per fiscal year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience as an Accounting Clerk I or equivalent.
  • OR Six (6) months full-time work experience as an Accounting Clerk I or equivalent AND 6 semester units or 9 quarter units in principles of accounting courses from an accredited college.
  • Applicants are required to demonstrate basic spreadsheet skills through the passing of a County approved test.
