About The Position

This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution in Halifax County, NC. This position monitors all expenditures for a medium custody facility to include management of a minimum custody facility which is managed within the scope of the larger institution.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Documented knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices.
Demonstrated experience processing accounts payable in an accounting software application.
Documented knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

Monitors all expenditures for a medium custody facility, including the management of a minimum custody facility.
Processes requisitions, purchase orders, expense vouchers, welfare expenditures, canteen, special funds accounts, contracts, and P-Card purchases.
Reconciles P-Card accounts.
Generates financial reports and compiles financial information for statistical reports.
Assists in budget preparation.
Serves as a resource on fiscal policy and procedures.
Ensures goods and services are ordered and received on the DAC Accounting System.
Works closely with DAC staff, DAC Administration, Controller's Office, Purchasing, and vendors regarding fiscal activities.
Performs backup duties for the Accounting Clerk I that handles inmate trust fund and incentive wage.
Assists management staff with additional duties as needed.
