The position involves preparing financial statements and statistical data reports, reconciling encumbrances and budget variance reports, and monitoring capital/current projects and recoveries. It also includes maintaining a Cost Control System and preparing financial information for various government levels and third parties. The role handles accounts receivable functions, processes period-end accruals, and prepares closing entries. Additionally, it involves reviewing financial system reports, analyzing account balances, processing journal entries, and reclassifying/reallocating general ledger accounts. The Accounting Assistant 2 provides assistance on accounting and financial matters, including expenditure projections, and liaises with Corporate Finance for voucher processing and document retrieval. The role also monitors provincial statutes and regulations, city by-laws, and agreements, and coordinates data with auditors.
