About The Position

The Accounting and Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. This role combines financial recordkeeping, payroll administration, and compliance, requiring strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Accounting Duties: Maintain the general ledger and accurately record daily financial transactions Prepare and post journal entries Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts Prepare financial reports and support budgeting activities Assist with audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations Payroll Duties: Process payroll (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) accurately and on schedule Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, and tax information Calculate employee compensation, including overtime, bonuses, and commissions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and related reports Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting and/or payroll
  • Experience with payroll and accounting systems (e.g., Paycom, QuickBooks)
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
