About The Position

This position is responsible for performing general accounting clerical duties and maintaining accounting files. The role involves data entry, proofreading financial reports, and processing vendor invoices. The assistant will also help compile financial data, maintain ledgers, coordinate student allowances and payrolls, and contribute to monthly financial reports. A key aspect of the role is cultivating a positive and respectful work environment, free of harassment and intimidation, and modeling appropriate professional behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent, with courses in general accounting and bookkeeping
  • One-year experience as a general accounting clerk.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

  • Prefer two or more years’ experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performing general accounting clerical duties; maintains accounting files.
  • Entering data into the computer and proofreading financial reports; records, classifies, and summarizes invoices, work orders, purchase orders, etc.
  • Processing vendor invoices by comparing invoice amount with the authorized purchase order and receiving information. Prepares expenditure report. Checks invoice activity against general ledger.
  • Assisting in assembling and compiling financial data as requested.
  • Maintaining center records, ledgers, and journals as necessary to determine center financial status.
  • Coordinating the distribution of student allowances for living expenses and payrolls.
  • Compiling and maintaining records necessary to prepare payroll register and all other data affecting the payroll.
  • Assisting in compiling and preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Cultivating and maintaining a climate on center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Clearly communicating and consistently modeling appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
