About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant role is designed to support the team in managing the full-cycle accounting needs of CARFAX Canada. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, facilitating month-end and year-end closing procedures, and supporting the company’s financial reporting and compliance efforts. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to build effective relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Currently pursuing CPA.
  • Familiarity with Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing full-cycle accounting, including financial transactions and statement preparation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure financials are accurately stated while ensuring compliance under US GAAP and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Maintain internal working papers and documentation for audit readiness.
  • Monitor accounting policies; prepare technical memos for complex issues.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency.
  • Provide support for budget preparation, variance analysis, and tax filings.
  • Develop and maintain various financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Responsible for all Statistics Canada reporting.
  • Additional projects and duties as needed to support the Accounting department.
