About The Position

Fibersmith is seeking a full-time Accountant to support the daily financial operations of its growing company from its Columbia, Missouri office. The role focuses on keeping financial information accurate and organized, producing useful and timely reporting, and supporting leadership's understanding of the business's financial performance. The Accountant will help maintain and improve financial processes as the company grows.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and close processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and a professional, team-focused approach.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA is a plus, but not required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Maintain general ledger activity and support month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and management reporting.
• Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Assist with audits, documentation, and GAAP compliance.
• Reconcile accounts and research discrepancies.
• Help leadership understand financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Recommend process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.
• Support other accounting and finance tasks as assigned.
