About The Position

To perform basic accounting functions such as ledger/fund maintenance, payroll, fund reconciliation, posting, and fiscal control of inventory. To prepare financial reports and resolve problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, reimbursements, and/or procurement practices.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field or completion of a post-bachelor's Accounting certificate program.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting principles, concepts, and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related financial and/or accounting software applications.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports.
  • Ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes accounts, records, reports, and accounts receivable and payable, journal vouchers, general and subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness; investigates and resolves questionable entries.
  • Monitors departmental or unit revenue and expense accounts; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, university policy, and standard accounting procedures.
  • Prepares recurring reports such as monthly financial statements, leave, and personnel activity reports; processes vouchers and purchase orders.
  • Prepares, reviews, and processes budget, revenue, expense, payroll, and related correcting entries.
  • Reconciles financial statements and fixed assets.
  • Interacts and trains departmental staff regarding finance policies and procedures and funding requirements; liaises with vendors, funding source representatives, and patients.
