About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Education, we are seeking an Accountant 1, 2, or 3 to join Fiscal Operations – Appropriation Control as a Revenue Accountant. The Accountant is responsible for the preparation, classification, deposit, and reconciliation of financial transactions, fiscal reports, and other financial activities while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

Requirements

Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

Serve as the revenue liaison and primary point of contact for the receipt of funds.
Prepare revenue financial transaction documents and coordinate agency reimbursement activities.
Properly draw down federal grant funds and return funds, as applicable.
Reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate revenue and grant postings.
Prepare fiscal reports, including the compilation and analysis of data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
