About The Position

As the newest member of our close-knit team, you'll own the full cycle of day-to-day accounting - from AP processing through month-end close - working autonomously and taking full ownership of your work. You understand accrual-based accounting inside and out, take pride in keeping the books clean and current. With 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably with an AEC firm, you bring a proactive mindset to everything from GL reconciliations to audit support. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting and 4+ years of experience with strong general ledger ownership preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC)
  • Solid command of accrual-based accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting standards
  • Proven experience with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
  • Demonstrated ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts and manage GL independently
  • Self-directed and accountable - you set the standard and follow through
  • Strong proficiency in Excel - comfort learning new systems and tools
  • High attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies and resolve them quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you work well across teams and with leadership
  • Proactive problem-solver with a desire to keep learning, improving, and strengthening the firm around you

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ERP systems - Ajera or Unanet experience is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Taking full ownership of the day-to-day accounting function, keeping financials accurate, complete, and up to date at all times
  • Recording daily transactions and preparing journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
  • Reconciling GL, bank, and credit card accounts, with monthly close completed on time
  • Processing AP/AR and approving vendor invoice payments within established terms
  • Assisting with payroll processing — ensuring accuracy in compensation, deductions, and benefits
  • Preparing 1099s, compliance reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
  • Supporting budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting for leadership
  • Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and implementing best practices in a lean team environment
