About The Position

Relay is seeking an Accountant to join their team. This role focuses on cash visibility, expense platform administration, and acting as a liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and People Services. The Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, ledger maintenance, account ownership, month-end close, and supporting audits. They will also administer the corporate T&E card program and Navan platform, and work on systems and process optimization, including AI and automation adoption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly related field.
  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong foundational understanding of US GAAP.
  • High attention to detail with a knack for identifying variances and troubleshooting data mismatches.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate across departments and explain financial requirements to non-finance team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment with evolving automated workflows.
  • Ability to uphold and exemplify Relay’s core values.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting setting is a plus.
  • Progress toward Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a strong plus.
  • Direct experience navigating and utilizing NetSuite.
  • Prior experience with payroll system reporting.
  • Experience working with financial close automation platforms (e.g., FloQast, Numeric, NetClose).
  • Familiarity with modern T&E platforms; familiarity with Navan is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bank reconciliations in NetSuite and partner with the billing team to ensure customer payments are properly applied.
  • Administer Relay’s modern expense (Navan) and corporate card platform (Brex), streamlining employee onboarding/offboarding, curating spending policies, and monitoring policy adherence.
  • Serve as the liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and People Services, ensuring payroll data is accurately reflected in NetSuite and translated into departmental headcount spend.
  • Own the full lifecycle of assigned balance sheet accounts, including preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet and bank reconciliations, to ensure a timely and accurate month-end close.
  • Partner closely with the People Services team to ensure payroll transactions are fed into NetSuite accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team to ensure operating expenses are accurately allocated and reported by department.
  • Partner closely with the billing department to ensure timely, accurate application of customer payments.
  • Lead the fulfillment of internal and external audit requests for assigned areas.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Relay’s corporate T&E card program and Navan platform, managing card issuance, limit adjustments, and transaction approvals.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting and IT teams to optimize the integration of third-party applications with NetSuite.
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Proactively identify, recommend, and implement internal process and reporting improvements.
