About The Position

We’re seeking an Accountant to take ownership of financial operations, accounting, and bookkeeping for Xona’s Montreal-based Canadian entity. Working in-tandem with the Operations Manager and the Burlingame, California Financial Operations team, the Accountant will work to position Xona Canada’s financial infrastructure and processes for high-growth scalability. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in establishing accounting processes that support manufacturing and logistical procurement in scale-up environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 4 - 8 years of experience in financial operations, or a similar field
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices (GAAP) in Canada and the United States
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Familiarity and exposure to QuickBooks, or similar ERPs
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-growth scale-up environment
  • Interest and exposure to aerospace, satellite systems, or technology-driven industries is highly desirable
  • Experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, particularly over-time revenue recognition
  • Experience with ERP implementation and cost accounting practices

Responsibilities

  • Own accounting pathways from expense to capture to close, ensuring appropriate recordkeeping and reconciliation is completed for Xona’s Canadian entity
  • Assist in the management of large-scope financial operations, coordinating with the Operations team for cost accounting, budget tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Own accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring payments are processed in a timely manner with coordination from our external vendors and stakeholders
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations in support of compliance and audit preparation
  • Enforce and support multi-location, inter-entity accounting practices to ensure transfer pricing protocols are respected
  • Coordinate with program managers and external governmental contacts to accurately recognize revenue and contract milestones
