About The Position

Zions Bancorporation is seeking an Accountant to join their Loan Accounting department in Tucson, AZ. This role offers the opportunity to learn a broad array of skills within the accounting profession with plenty of growth opportunities within the enterprise. The Loan Accounting team, part of the Corporate Accounting team, has oversight over loan accounting for all Zions Bancorporation’s affiliate companies and the core applications for loans. The team focuses on automating processes to free up time for critical thinking activities that support lending initiatives. The position involves providing accurate financial statements and maintaining an ethical reputation for over 150 years.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 0-4 years or experience in accounting, financial analyst, budgets, balance sheets, income statements.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices, principles, applications, procedures and internal controls.
  • Ability to reconcile General Ledger accounts and analyze financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications.
  • Good organizational, problem resolution and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good client relationship and communication skills.
  • Ability to be a team player and work in a group atmosphere.

Nice To Haves

  • Bank or credit/lending background is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts and maintain supporting records.
  • Effectively work with various departments to ensure that appropriate accounting treatment is being applied for loans.
  • Ensure that established accounting policies, regulations, and internal controls are being followed.
  • Interact with various levels of credit, lending, and accounting employees regarding loan transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of loan-related financial statements and regulatory reporting schedules.
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
  • May provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Daily general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Month-end closing activities.
  • Quarterly regulatory reporting.
  • Accounting support for the Bancorporation’s business units.
  • Work with the Bancorporation’s internal and external auditors to provide supporting documentation as requested.
