About The Position

Toray Performance Materials Corporation (TPMC) is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to take ownership of key accounting functions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. This role is responsible for managing daily accounting activities, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, and audits. The ideal candidate will also apply cost accounting principles to provide detailed cost analysis and support strategic decision-making. Position Overview: The accountant is responsible for the daily management of the accounting department activities as well as month end and year end close and audit function. Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as an Accountant
  • Strong computer skills on MS Office, ERP software and databases (e.g Microsoft Dynamics Navision, AX, Oracle, or SAP)
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, law and regulations
  • Experience managing payroll and time and labor.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting, including reporting and profit eliminations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of finance, manufacturing cost and inventory accounting and budgeting.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of the company.
  • Able to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 3 plus years of experience in Accounting / Finance/ Manufacturing / Cost Accounting

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Manage month and end year close process.
  • Reconcile and monitor accounting transactions and publish financial reports monthly.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Manage annual audits, including 401K and Workers Compensation.
  • State and local tax filing (i.e., sales/use and property tax)
  • Develop annual standard product costs with Engineering, consistent with annual budget. Develop standards for new products as required.
  • Plans, studies and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials or manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost with Engineering/Operations.
  • Analyzes data obtained and records results.
  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Provide performance reports to manufacturing with appropriate analysis.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Ensures that BOM’s and routings are accurate with Engineering.
  • Develop annual direct labor and manufacturing overhead rates and budgets.
  • Maintain an effective work order and inventory accounting system.
  • Support monthly closing process including: work order closures, error resolution, variance and absorption calculations and inventory reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and carry out periodic physical inventory counts in conjunction with Operations. Reconcile to accounting data.
  • Support Finance and other functional areas for issues related to general accounting, cost accounting and inventory.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct Quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Other ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis projects.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
