About The Position

OUC - The Reliable One is seeking an Accountant to join the Financial & Support Services division. This role involves managing essential parts of the month-end close process, including pre-close activities and the first five days of the cycle, while maintaining accurate CAPEX and fixed-asset records. The Accountant will prepare reconciliations, research variances, manage work orders, and support ad-hoc projects. This position requires collaboration with various departments such as Budget, HR, Benefits, Customer Service, and Operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, enjoys problem-solving, process improvement, and delivering reliable financial insights. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a mid-size organization (500-1,000+ employees).
  • Strong financial acumen with sharp attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience in general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and fixed assets.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting systems.
  • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate variances and identify root causes.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with consistent follow-through.
  • Project management and organizational skills to manage deadlines and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of General Accounting.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory accounting practices.
  • Understanding of Accounting Department Procedures.
  • Experience in preparing complex reconciliations.
  • Experience in preparing journal entries.
  • Experience in preparing spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with software applications related to accounting.
  • Knowledge of related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws.
  • Willingness to learn, takes ownership and accountability for work product.
  • Flexibility in changing work environments and capability of multi-tasking.
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Government or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Fixed Assets or Lease Management and Hubble is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Recognize and report the financial impact of issues as they occur.
  • Develop solutions to systemic and non-systemic problems.
  • Review transactional data for policy compliance.
  • Develop efficient business processes.
  • Follow through on assignments and communicate status.
  • Create area-specific system reports.
  • Compose written communication to document accounting policy/treatment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
