About The Position

The Accountant provides direct financial support to units across the Division, assisting with budgeting, reporting, reconciliations, and ongoing financial processes. This role strengthens communication between the Finance Department and field units while supporting key accounting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Preferred in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college
  • Must be computer literate and able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or email program with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to understand, follow and receive English written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, write and communicate effectively in the English language and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain patience and courtesy in dealing with a wide range of people and their needs.
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess good people skills.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a time sensitive manner is essential.
  • Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain highest level of security in addressing oral and written communications as well as the filing of correspondence to protect the integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to four years’ experience in an advanced accounting position preferred.
  • Experience with Shelby and Vivid software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fiscal year budget preparation: assist units with annual budget preparation and mid-year budget revisions.
  • Working directly with units on preparing budgets, staffing tables, and necessary calculations of fixed costs.
  • Work with Assistant Controller and Controller on pulling information for budget analysis
  • Working with Corps on contract budgets in relation to our overall budget and tracking
  • Kettle weekly reports for Command Finance Council and Field
  • Support preparation of financial reports and analysis for leadership
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership to improve processes and efficiency
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations across the Division, including quarterly account reconciliation and required spreadsheets
  • Support with reporting, entry, and compliance requirements for the division
  • Assist with monthly assessments and related reporting
  • Audit preparation
  • Journal preparation
  • General Ledger coding
  • Mentor, training, and communication of Corps officers and staff
  • Assist units with financial questions, training, and guidance on procedures
  • Foster positive and professional relationships with staff at all levels
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned.
