About The Position

The Accountant is a member of the Administration division at Buchanan Hauling & Rigging and supports the finance department through accounting activities, financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. The role is expected to embody the company values of Determination, Integrity, Safety, and Community.

This position handles month-end expense recording and accruals, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, audit preparation, reserves, policy compliance, cost allocation, customer incentives and rebates, claims and cargo liability reporting, bad debt, equipment rentals, and ad hoc reporting. The Accountant also works closely with the Driver payroll team. Other duties may be assigned, and the job description may change as needed.

Requirements

• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• 3–5 years of experience.
• Accounting degree required.

• McLeod software experience.

Responsibilities

• Record month-end expenses and accruals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations.
• Perform account reconciliations.
• Maintain the general ledger.
• Prepare for audits.
• Record and track reserves.
• Ensure the travel and entertainment policy is followed.
• Ensure monthly costs are accounted for and allocated appropriately.
• Handle customer volume incentives and rebates.
• Prepare claims and cargo liability reporting.
• Work closely with the Driver payroll team.
• Prepare and record bad debt.
• Oversee equipment rentals.
• Prepare general ad hoc reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
