About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, licensed Chartered Accountant to join our team as a Commercial Real Estate Accountant. This is a fully remote position based in the Philippines, requiring the candidate to work Central US Time hours in order to collaborate closely with our Houston-based finance team, property managers, and investors. The ideal candidate brings at least 10 years of hands-on commercial real estate accounting experience gained at a medium to large U.S. company, with deep expertise in financial reporting, property accounting, and investor reporting across retail, multifamily, industrial, and land assets.

Requirements

  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with strong commercial real estate accounting experience
  • Direct US Commercial Real Estate (CRE) accounting experience, with hands-on experience supporting US-based commercial real estate properties or portfolios
  • Strong end-to-end property accounting experience, including AP, AR, general ledger, accruals, reconciliations, month-end/year-end close, and financial statement preparation
  • Hands-on experience with Yardi, MRI, or a comparable property accounting platform, with the ability to navigate and manage day-to-day accounting activities, including AP, AR, financial statements, and tax reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and US commercial real estate accounting practices, including CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, straight-line rent, tenant billing, and related property accounting processes
  • Experience supporting US-based commercial real estate clients, properties, or portfolios, whether through a US-based company, real estate organization, or offshore/BPO environment servicing US CRE clients
  • Ability and willingness to work Central US Time hours to closely support the US-based team.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to work directly with US-based stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage full-cycle property accounting, including general ledger maintenance, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and distribute timely, accurate investor reporting packages, including financial statements, distribution calculations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, tenant billings, and lease abstraction/administration as needed.
  • Analyze property-level financial performance, including budget-to-actual variance analysis, and provide insights to property management and ownership.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions within property management software (Yardi, MRI, or similar), including chart of accounts maintenance and intercompany transactions across retail, multifamily, industrial, and land assets.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and liaising with external auditors.
  • Partner with asset managers, property managers, and the corporate accounting team to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data across the portfolio.
  • Assist with cash management, including bank reconciliations and cash flow reporting for assigned properties.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of financial and investor reporting.
