About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing quarterly and annual P&C statutory statement schedules in accordance with statutory accounting principles. This includes coordinating with data providers and consolidating responses to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reported data. The position also ensures compliance with NAIC and state insurance department regulatory reporting requirements, researches requirements as needed, and prepares ad hoc journal entries. Additionally, the role involves preparing technical balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences, and preparing support and analysis for internal and external audit requests, including GAAP-to-statutory balance reconciliations and explanations for variances. The Accountant III will also perform financial analyses, identify required corrective actions, and coordinate with responsible parties to record appropriate ledger and statement adjustments. This role serves as a liaison with various Corporate functions and partners with team members to coordinate quarterly close processes. A key aspect of the role is to evaluate and implement process improvements that support efficiency and automation, and to develop, maintain, and improve accounting internal controls, policies, and procedures, promoting a continuous improvement mindset across reporting processes and team activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial reporting or financial analysis; insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, with statutory reporting experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Oracle ERP preferred.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to changing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data reported in statutory schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIC and state insurance department regulatory reporting requirements, including researching requirements as needed.
