About The Position

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs a variety of difficult and complex accounting functions. Develops, monitors and reviews Voluntary Integration Program budgets and expenditures. Prepares accurate and timely financial statements and reports as required.

  • Ability to comprehend and work within State and Federal project guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain complex financial records, analyze data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Apply bookkeeping and financial record-keeping principles to assigned specialty areas.
  • Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment such as computer terminal, typewriter, calculator and copier.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • BA in Accounting/Business Administration or the equivalent.
  • Three years increasingly responsible experience in the preparation and maintenance of financial and statistical records.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors accounting activities for Voluntary Integration Program; prepares financial statements assuring proper financial controls and practices are in conjunction with accepted accounting principles.
  • Provides information to Magnet School principals and staff regarding various records, budgets, accounts and programs.
  • Monitors expenditures; checks requisitions for proper account codes; sets up new accounts as needed.
  • Assists principals in developing Voluntary Integration Program budgets: prepares budget revisions; codes budget accounts.
  • Attends State conferences, workshops regarding Voluntary Integration Program and mandated costs rules and regulations.
  • Prepared year-end entries for receivables, payables for Voluntary Integration Program.
  • Provides monthly statements to Magnet School administrators.
  • Provides technical supervision of Voluntary Integration Program bookkeeping, EDP codes as to site, district and state program.
  • Collects relevant information from principles and administrators pertaining to mandated cost claims.
  • Reviews the log sheets to insure all claimable items have been claimed.
  • Provide training and support to staff on Voluntary Integration Program and mandated costs claims.
  • Ensure that mandated costs log sheets are turned in on a timely basis.
  • Performs internal audit for Voluntary Integration Program and mandated cost claims.
  • Works closely with the external auditors in the course of annual audit of District’s Voluntary Integration Program.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
