About The Position

The Accountant II plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the fiscal operations of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department. The Accountant II works independently in managing fiscal tasks providing indirect oversight of administrative staff through compliance review of reimbursements, reconciliations and financial processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization
  • Two years of experience

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in healthcare or higher education financial management
  • Proficiency with enterprise financial systems and spreadsheets
  • Strong skills in reconciliation, budget management, and contract billing

Responsibilities

  • Developing, tracking, and reconciling departmental budgets
  • Providing guidance on allowable expenses, purchasing procedures and cost allocations. Ensuring supporting documentation supports compliance and audit standards
  • Providing leadership with monthly budget reports and recommendations for adjustments and maintaining detailed financial records to ensure accountability
  • Approving departmental financial transactions, resolving discrepancies in coordination with staff and central finance offices
  • Managing billing and reconciliation processes for the department
  • Reconciling accounts monthly to ensure all revenue is accurately recorded
  • Preparing monthly and ad hoc reports that provide leadership with insight into departmental financial performance
  • Preparing documentation for audits and responds to auditor inquiries. Implements corrective actions as needed
