About The Position

The role of Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information through various responsibilities. This position will be responsible for the execution of day-to-day and period-end financial responsibilities. These include but are not limited to: month-end close procedures, preparing journal entries, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring and reconciling inventory transactions, contributing to the monthly reporting process, and maintaining and continuously improving the internal control structure. The role will also assist in special projects, ad-hoc analysis and other initiatives as required by the finance team. The qualified candidate will have the ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and ownership, as well as a positive attitude and strong ability to work on a team. The candidate must have the ability to work in a self-motivated, dynamic team environment with tight deadlines. Occasional travel to other Nucor locations will be required. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Position can be located in Wallingford, CT or Maryville, MO.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Prior experience in Accounting, financial close and reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and ownership
  • Positive attitude and strong ability to work on a team
  • Ability to work in a self-motivated, dynamic team environment with tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MAcc or CPA
  • Previous experience in Steelmaking or manufacturing accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Inventory management
  • Basic understanding of internal controls necessary in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as PowerBI
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 and/or Oracle ERP systems
  • Willingness to relocate for future advancement

Responsibilities
