About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Fiscal Services Management, participates as a member of the Fiscal Department team in maintaining agency financial operations in an efficient manner. This role involves producing timely and accurate monthly financial reports, analyzing account balances, participating in budget development, performing bank reconciliations, and assisting with fiscal procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in accounting and/or related field or 2+ years' experience.
  • State regulations require a physical examination, current tuberculosis test, and verified fingerprint and criminal records clearance before beginning work.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Current personal vehicle insurance or safe driving record sufficient to ensure insurability through Agency policy.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of parents, employees of the organization, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles to routine activities.
  • Ability to analyze accounting activity and make routine projections.
  • Ability to understand and use a variety of computer applications and appropriate software, including spreadsheets and word processing; and workplace electronic technology, including internet access, and e-mail.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting.
  • Experience in budget development is desirable.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills including, but not limited to: design and develop databases; computerized presentation/training materials; and advanced graphics design applications, may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial reports, including monthly income statements, balance sheets, and government reports.
  • Analyze asset and liability account balances, maintain accurate backup, and prepare adjustments as necessary.
  • Participate in budget development, load budget data to the accounting system, update financial projections, monitor expenses, allocate costs, and maintain files.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Participate in proofing payroll time entry data.
  • Participate in entry or review of Accounts Payable to ensure consistency with policies.
  • Handle claims and other contract billing.
  • Assist with periodic review and update of fiscal procedures and train program staff as necessary.
  • Support the agency safety program.
  • Maintain filing system and record keeping, including all necessary backup and adjustments.
  • Prepare journal entries as appropriate.
  • Attend training and informational meetings as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to information and records concerning children, families, and staff.
