About The Position

Accrete is a dual-use AI software company that licenses its Knowledge Engine Platform and Expert AI Agents to government and enterprise clients. The platform creates a unified semantic representation of an organization’s ground truth—capturing tacit domain knowledge, understanding contextual relevance, and connecting information silos—enabling expert agents to reason across complex data and support high-stakes decisions with confidence. From national security to commercial use cases, Accrete delivers mission-critical decision intelligence and automation on a single platform. Accrete is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant I to join our Finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including month-end close, account reconciliations, payroll entries, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position reports to the VP Controller and will work closely with Finance, People, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth technology company.
  • Familiarity with payroll accounting and stock compensation.
  • Experience supporting annual audits.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for account reconciliations.
  • Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Record payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • Assist with accounting for benefits, commissions, bonuses, and equity compensation.
  • Review employee expense reports for compliance with company policy.
  • Support vendor invoice processing and payment tracking as needed.
  • Prepare audit schedules and assist with requests from external auditors.
  • Support tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and workflows.
