About The Position

Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Accountant I. This position is responsible for performing duties in the maintenance of accounting records for Office of Disbursements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma or GED and four years bookkeeping or accounting experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Must be bondable for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process invoices within Panthermart and Spectrum ensuring proper PO matching (2-way/3-way), accurate chartfield coding, compliance with GSU and USG policies.
  • Support daily AP operations including voucher entry and validation, payment support, and vendor payment tracking inquiries.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and request invoices as needed.
  • Provide customer service to external and internal customers via phone and email.
  • Monitor and resolve various exceptions and errors such as voucher build, matching exceptions, and closed or over-invoiced PO issues.
  • Respond to basic inquiries from campus departments and vendors, providing guidance on invoice submission and payment status inquiries.
  • Assist in reviewing routing reports (voucher status, unmatched transactions).
  • Support monthly and annual close by identifying incomplete or pending items.
  • Assist with data gathering for audits and reporting requirements.
  • Identify and escalate issues such as missing documentation, incorrect pricing or quantities, and unmatched receipts or invoices.
