About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support financial operations, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role plays a key role in maintaining the organization's financial health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Candidates should possess 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, with a preference for backgrounds in non-profit accounting.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and word processing tools
  • Ability to learn internal systems within 60 days
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze general ledger entries and financial transactions
  • Conduct daily cash flow analysis for assigned funds
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Analyze financial data, including assets, liabilities, and capital
  • Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers for accuracy
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Verify bank deposits and ensure accuracy
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll and daily bank deposits
  • Maintain company benefits records
  • Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local financial reports
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes
  • Ensure compliance with financial and legal requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
