About The Position

The purpose of the class is to provide accounting services pertaining to grants, trust funds, and/or general revenues. The class is responsible for accounting for revenues and expenditures, posting to and reconciling the general ledger, and keeping accurate financial records. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in accounting, business, finance or any other related field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register ensuring accurate records of acquisitions, disposals, and transfers of assets.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventories of fixed assets to ensure alignment with the asset register.
  • Use ERP system to calculate depreciation based on asset classification, useful life, and acquisition date, and verifying the accuracy of system calculations.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations related to fixed assets and capital projects for the general ledger, ensuring accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Set up new accounts and adjust the general ledger as necessary.
  • Update DebtBook with City lease information.
  • Reconcile Internal Service funds and process related journal entries.
  • Performs accounting functions in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
