About The Position

Under the general direction of the UAR Director, the incumbent will provide professional level accounting services requiring general knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices. Accounting services include classifying, examining, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting financial transactions for internal and external reporting as required by the legal basis of accounting for the State of California, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting. Additional responsibilities may include supporting the audit function, system processing, and maintenance of associated administrative systems, implementing appropriate fiscal policies and procedures, identifying and implementing new technologies in support of these business processes; providing guidance in fiscal matters relative to areas of responsibility; presenting at systemwide or user group training, workshops and meetings, and involvement with various CSU committees or representing the University on various accounting matters.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of GAAP, GASB, FASB and basic statistical and mathematical concepts used in the presentation of financial data.
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply federal, state, and CSU policies, procedures, and regulations related to accounting and financial reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications, including integrated financial systems, spreadsheets, and other office and communication tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and to communicate effectively within and outside the department.
