About The Position

This position is for an Accountant/Financial Analyst at the Carlin Complex, supporting reporting and strategic planning for the Carlin sites. The role involves developing budgets, forecasts, financial models, and analyzing expenditures to support strategic goals and informed decision-making. The candidate will also support managers and cost owners by providing financial insights, assisting with financial planning, and recommending improvements to financial performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to stay organized, efficient, analytical, and to pay close attention to detail required.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work with Staff Accountants, Mine Sites, Executives, and other departments personnel/cross-functional teams required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, flexible, and able to organize and respond to multiple demands and priorities required.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, understanding of accounting concepts, and comprehension of business-related implications required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year prior related experience, accounting internship, or demonstrated initiative preferred for Accountant I.
  • Three (3) to six (6) years prior related experience preferred for Accountant II.
  • Prior implementation or working experience with SAP, OneStream, or Xeras applications preferred.
  • Exposure to the mining industry in an accounting or analyst function preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close process, including quarterly financial audits and control testing.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, review costs for completeness, and evaluate reasonableness of balances to research and proactively resolve errors or reconciling items.
  • Establish knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and Barrick accounting policies, procedures, and internal control standards, and maintain compliance while performing responsibilities.
  • Facilitate preparation, consolidation, and review of all budget and forecast processes.
  • Collect and organize financial information and inputs into financial models.
  • Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with budgets/forecasts, including variance commentary.
  • Create ad hoc templates, reports, and analysis for use by managers/departments to evaluate their businesses.
  • Track and report capital expenditures to project owners, budget/forecast capital projections, review financial analysis and modeling for requested spend.
  • Work closely with project teams as needed.
  • Identify and implement productivity and process improvements.
  • Recognize and communicate potential issues to his/her supervisor, as appropriate.
  • Contribute ideas and actions towards the continuous improvement of processes within area of influence.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships with finance customers.
  • Give and encourage feedback, contribute to building a positive team culture, and put success of team above own interests.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and safety training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
