About The Position

This role is responsible for quarterly and annual reporting to investors, the FERC, partners, and lenders. This includes the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, equity, and cash flow statements), footnote disclosures, and Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A). The position also involves assisting with FERC regulatory reporting, coordinating information flow across business units, identifying and implementing process improvements, and serving as a technical accounting resource. The role requires interaction with various levels of corporate personnel, serving as a liaison to external auditors, and assisting with internal control compliance. A positive work environment, systems approach, and disciplined execution are expected, along with professionalism, clear communication, and dependable attendance. Non-traditional hours may be required, and a high regard for safety is essential. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience, including public accounting experience with a national CPA firm or equivalent, preferably at a corporate engagement level.
  • Ability to interpret and document the applicability of GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Experience with consolidations of multiple business units that include inter/intra-company transactions.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Proven ability to interpret and document the applicability of GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Excellent technical accounting, analytical, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with various levels of finance staff and management.
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to strict deadlines and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Express a high degree of intellectual curiosity.
  • Capable of working independently and with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • Experience with XBRL reporting a plus.
  • Familiarity with FERC chart of accounts and regulatory accounting a plus.
  • Accounting/financial system experience is a plus: e.g., Oracle, Workiva, Hyperion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with quarterly and annual GAAP reporting to investors, partners, and lenders, including preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A.
  • Assist with FERC regulatory annual and quarterly reporting (Form 2/3Q and Form 6/6Q).
  • Act as key coordinator across all business units to ensure timely and accurate flow of information.
  • Proactively identify and implement internal process improvements to optimize efficiencies, improve analysis quality, and develop new reports for Senior Management.
  • Assist in serving as a technical accounting resource, staying current on accounting pronouncements and researching emerging issues.
  • Interact with various levels of corporate personnel and respond to inquiries on close reporting.
  • Serve as liaison to the external auditors.
  • Assist with internal control compliance for the corporate accounting group financial processes and ensure accounting policies support compliance efforts.
  • Perform ad hoc special projects as necessary.
  • Foster a positive open work environment, systems approaches, and disciplined execution of assigned tasks.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.

Benefits

  • The annual salary range for this position will be $80,000-$110,000/yr.
