Pembina Pipeline Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual for an exciting career opportunity as an Accountant, CPA Candidate in their downtown Calgary office. As a CPA Pre-Approved Program, Pembina is dedicated to training and developing qualified candidates through a 36-month formal rotation program. This program supports candidates in obtaining the requisite practical experience for CPA certification. The training program is structured with work rotations in selected Pembina business or service units, with durations, tasks, and responsibilities designed to meet Pembina’s competency map as approved by CPA Alberta. The Accountant, CPA Candidate will rotate through Financial Reporting, Financial and Revenue Accounting, and Internal Audit. It is expected that the candidate will also be completing the requirements of the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) while in Pembina’s training program. Pembina will provide exam preparation support for the Common Final Exam and cover all fees related to CPA registration, module fees, study materials, and exams (first attempts).

Requirements

  • Eligible to enroll or is enrolled in the CPA PEP level of studies
  • Legally able to work in the country of the position
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to generate superior results under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership potential

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate level with MS Excel would be an asset
  • Strong skills in other Microsoft applications is desirable
  • Experience with SAP or similar large ERP systems would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation of IFRS-compliant consolidated financial statements including MD&A and financial statement notes
  • Preparing annual GAAP-compliant legal entity and trust financial statements, financial statement notes, and working papers
  • Assisting with joint venture reporting
  • Assisting with recording tax reorganizations
  • Supporting monthly forecast and annual budgeting processes
  • Assisting with customer audit information requests and queries
  • Preparing general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Compiling operational data and preparing management reports
  • Evaluating design and operating effectiveness of internal controls
  • Evaluating various risk assessment procedures
  • Other projects as assigned
