About The Position

The main purpose of this position is examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles in order to modify and maintain agency accounting systems, prepare financial reports or statements and give fiscal advice to management. This position will perform specialized duties in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting or bond and loan accounting. Employees in this classification do not supervise Accountants.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.
  • Three years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) background.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Experience with ERP systems, and financial software like FMIS, Web Focus, or Portfol.
  • Experience in budget preparation, cost allocation, financial reporting, and GAAP compliance.
  • Strong analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in supervising staff or handling complex reconciliations.
