About The Position

Poms & Associates is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant - Accounts Receivables Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for an accountant with direct bill or agency bill experience or someone with accounts receivable experience looking to grow into a broader accounting career. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in our carrier accounting processes while supporting the Finance & Accounting Senior Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to synthesize data into insights
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AMS360 or Applied Epic preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Record trust and operating bank deposits daily
  • Process company accounts payable to carriers via check/EFT
  • Ensure timely processing of carrier payables
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile carrier statements against internal records monthly
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including commission differences
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations during month-end close
  • Support audits and ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Assist with process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
  • Perform additional projects and research as needed.
