Port NOLA seeks a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant 3 to support the organization's financial planning, accounting, and reporting functions. This role is responsible for developing and monitoring the annual budget, managing inventory accounting and reconciliations, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments to analyze financial performance, support the annual external audit, improve accounting processes, and provide strategic financial insights that support sound business decisions. Requirements

  • Five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the annual budget and financial plan, perform revenue forecasting and cost analysis, monitor monthly financial performance, analyze budget variances, and provide strategic financial recommendations to support organizational goals.
  • Manage the inventory accounting process, reconcile inventory and bank accounts, prepare journal entries, support month-end and year-end close activities, and ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Coordinate annual external audits by preparing work papers and supporting documentation, conduct accounting research and analysis, and contribute to the development and implementation of improved accounting processes, controls, and financial practices.
