About The Position

This role allows you to support major programs by reviewing financial data and helping ensure accuracy in payments to counties. You will work with many offices and partners while gaining valuable experience in state financial operations. This position supports the financial administration of grants and program payments by analyzing reports, managing allocations, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. This role helps maintain accuracy, accountability, and consistency across multiple statewide programs.

Requirements

  • One year as an Accountant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
  • Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.
  • A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review expenditure reports, evaluate allocations, and examine regulations to determine financial impacts
  • Compute payment amounts, post entries in SAP software, and resolve issues related to grant payments
  • Create financial reporting forms, instructions, and account structures to support program needs
  • Perform checks for completeness, accuracy, and consistency across county financial submissions
  • Assemble fiscal and statistical data to prepare reports, maintain databases, and support informational requests
  • Provide guidance to department, county, and provider officials on financial regulations and procedures
