About The Position

Looking for a part-time temporary Accountant 2 to assist with the financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting activities that support the College's operating budget. The assignment will focus on reviewing and maintaining budget data across company and related financial records. The Accountant 2 will also compile and analyze financial data for monthly reports, forecasts, and year-end projections; monitor spending against approved budgets; assist with personnel-cost and position-control analysis; and prepare spreadsheets and reports for management review. The individual will work with academic and administrative departments to address budget questions and resolve transaction discrepancies, coordinating with Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing, and CUNY Central offices when necessary. Additional assignments may include support for fiscal year-end closeout, audit requests, compliance reviews, financial-system testing, data validation, process documentation, and other Budget Office projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills including formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
  • Accuracy.
  • Sound analytical judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective communication with both financial and non-financial staff.
  • Proper footwear required to perform tasks in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CUNYfirst, PeopleSoft, or a comparable financial-management system.

Responsibilities
