The position is responsible for a wide range of investigative functions concerning allegations of fraud, forgery, embezzlement, conspiracy, money laundering and all other financial crimes. This role involves conducting financial investigations by researching and analyzing financial information, reporting findings with supporting documentation, and monitoring compliance with state and federal Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and OFAC laws and regulations. The investigator will be accountable for identifying and taking appropriate action on items or transactions that present a risk or have caused a loss to the organization, and will be responsible for the verification of new accounts to enable services for new credit union members. Additionally, the role involves managing a queue of negative account balances to minimize losses, presenting educational information on loss prevention and fraud trends, and providing support to various Risk Management and Loss Prevention processes. The position requires the ability to make rapid decisions in a fast-paced environment and offers schedule flexibility, including Saturday hours. The investigator will also provide support to senior investigators, the AP Team, and the Director of AP for CTR’s/SAR’s research, review BSA/AML accounts, perform identity checks for new account openings/modifications, manage Overdraft Privilege Opt in/out, handle Akcelerant queues and inquiries, review Remote Deposit Capture, review ATM/SBO, approve/deny/review wires, and be responsible for law enforcement follow-up. The role also includes submitting payments on AP invoices, ordering supplies, managing shared branching limit increases, handling Early Warning Service reports of bad checks/ACH, performing Meridianlink Credit report inquiries/alerts, conducting 314a reviews, elder abuse investigations, processing traveling abroad requests, handling card suppression requests/calls, and responding to other financial institutions. Business account reviews for approval/denial and the ability to work in different vendor applications are also key responsibilities. The investigator must ensure all member, employee, and credit union official information is kept confidential. This role coordinates and oversees an effective Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC Compliance Program, establishes and maintains SAR investigation processes, and stays abreast of emerging industry trends, scams, and regulatory changes, advising the Compliance Officer of risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
