About The Position

The Cross Family of Agencies is seeking a talented and expert Account Manager for the Alternative Markets department. This role involves the day-to-day management of assigned customers, accurate evaluation and analysis of performance, facilitation of various meetings, compilation of data for renewals and reports, and coordination with external vendors. The Account Manager will also provide support for new business activities and member acquisition, ensuring the successful renewal and retention of assigned self-insured groups. A key aspect of the role is effective problem resolution and maintaining group management within established legislated rules and frameworks, including compliance with insurance regulations in various states.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of commercial lines experience with a desired concentration in workers' compensation.
  • Property & Casualty Producer License
  • Ability to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Mathematical/accounting aptitude with ability to understand financial statements.
  • Well-developed time management skills with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments.
  • Excellent presentation/public speaking, listening, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of self-insurance concepts and operating principals.
  • Gains basic knowledge of department errors and omissions exposures and E & O procedures.
  • Recommends and implements techniques increasing productivity using Microsoft Office and other products/databases.

Responsibilities

  • Day to Day Management of Assigned Customers
  • Accurate and timely evaluation/analysis of performance, including experience mod calculations, audits, monthly account balancing, and various other reports.
  • Effective management and facilitation of various meetings (Board, Annual, Safety) including presentations.
  • Accurate compilation of applications and data for insurance renewals, audits and/or actuarial reports.
  • Interface and coordination with external vendors (attorneys, actuaries, accountants, etc.)
  • Effective support and assistance to Fund Administrator, Board Chairs, Trustees and members.
  • Effective support and assistance for new business activities and member acquisition, including application, legal, administrative and integration processes.
  • Successful renewal and retention of assigned self-insured groups.
  • Anticipation, identification and resolution of problems.
  • Effective coordination of internal and external resources.
  • Accurate and timely response to technical issues, requests & questions.
  • Understand and comply with Insurance rules and regulations in accordance with the various states of operation, such as the State of Maine and Bureau of Insurance, including Rule Chapter 250, and Maine Worker’s Comp Act.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compilation of financial, actuarial and claim data to meet all State requirements.
  • Effective education of members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by VP of Alternative Markets.
